Harmony Marketing Group to Sponsor Next Habitat House in Bourbon.

by Kathy Bottorff, am1050.com

Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County has announced its next home will be built in Bourbon at the corner of Main Street and Shafer Road. This will be the seventeenth home constructed by the Marshall County affiliate.

This home will have a major sponsor, Harmony Marketing Group (HMG) of Bourbon. Tim Harman, President of HMG, which specializes in creative design, printing, fulfillment, finishing, and mailing services, believes in the mission of Habitat and the concept of helping financially qualified families become homeowners with the requirement that these families make a personal commitment in helping build their homes. This requirement of self-help is commonly referred to as sweat equity.

Joel Harman, who is a co-owner of HMG, joins his brother in encouraging other area businesses to explore the benefits of being a major sponsor so more families can be given a safe and warm home and by providing a true “hand up, not a hand-out.”  HMG believes it is important for businesses to give back to the communities of which they are an integral part.

Habitat for Humanity homes are built with all volunteer labor; therefore, no labor costs are included in the selling price. The family signs a twenty year mortgage including the cost of materials and the building lot cost. They then make a monthly mortgage payment which includes an escrow account to pay the taxes and insurance.

Presently volunteers are completing construction on a home on Pennsylvania Street in Plymouth. The goal is to have that home completed in late spring.

Anyone can become involved with Habitat for Humanity by volunteering to help build, becoming a major sponsor, or making a monetary contribution.  Simply call 574-935-4214 or e-mail marshallcountyhabitat@embarqmail.com.  Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County can also be found on Facebook.

Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County, Inc. is an Indiana not-for-profit corporation.
